North Korea Undercovered

For this period I decided to read "North Korea Undrecovered", because I am really interested in North Korea. It is written by John Swneeney, who is award-winning BBC journalist. He travelled to the most secret state and interviews with defectors, commentators and key witnesses.

It was really shocking to read about how people live there. People there are brainwashed by the government, they are not allowed to travel, they do not have any connection out of their country and the dictator is their law. It is very similar to the time when Estonia was apart of Soviet Union. We were seperated from the west by the Iron Curtain. There is no internet, no electricity, they need a pass if they want to go to other city, they cannot travel to other countries. People who visit North Korea can go only certain places, they have to give away their phones, all techniques, passports, and they can take pictures only when guide allow them.  Everything is gray and dark, there is no flowers or happy people.

I really liked that author put some pictures in the book and after imagining I can really see how it looks. It is unbelievable that so harsh living conditions still exist in some countries. It is usual that the people who have escaped have found killed by the leaders of North-Korea.  During my exchange year I spent time with a girl from South-Korea and she knew people who escaped from Norh and she told me about those stories also. Bright side is that country is getting more and more like China, so there is a little hope   that life will be better soon! 

I recommend this book to everybody who is older than 15 years old. It would be a little bit confusing for younger people. People who enjoy traveling and getting know about other countries would love it. It opens our eyes and makes us to appreciate all little things that we have.
